Angel Reese Injury: Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese shared some news on X (formerly Twitter) that her basketball season is over because of an injury. She hurt her wrist and was supposed to play in an upcoming game but can’t anymore.
Angel Reese said, “I have a lot of feelings right now because my season is ending due to the injury, but I’m also thankful for what’s coming next. Even though it’s God’s timing, not mine, I finally get a chance to rest my body and mind. ‘God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.'”
Even though her first year got cut short, Angel Reese did something amazing! She grabbed more rebounds than anyone ever has in a WNBA season, with an average of 13.1 rebounds per game.

Angel Reese set a new record for the most rebounds in one season during a game on September 1, when her team, the Chicago Sky, lost 79-74 to Minnesota. She got more than 404 rebounds, breaking the old record set by Sylvia Fowles in 2018. Fowles had beaten the previous record by just one rebound the year before when Jonquel Jones got 403. What’s amazing is Reese did it in only 23 games!
Angel Reese will miss rest of WNBA season because of wrist injury
Angel Reese was one of the top players competing with another rookie star, Caitlin Clark, for the WNBA Rookie of the Year award. Even former NBA All-Star Joakim Noah told Fox News that if he could vote, he’d pick Reese over Clark for the award.
Reese finished her first year with an amazing number of rebounds. Even though she didn’t play the full season, she set the record for the most rebounds in a single WNBA season and averaged 13.1 rebounds per game, the highest ever.
Former NBA player Joakim Noah said, “When I watch her play, she reminds me a lot of myself.”
Caitlin Clark, another top rookie, has better stats when it comes to points, assists, steals, blocks, and shooting. Clark even set a new record for assists for her team, the Fever, in a game against Minnesota.
But Reese was much better at getting rebounds. With 13.1 rebounds per game, she had more than double Clark’s 5.8 per game.
In the games where Reese’s team, the Sky, played against Clark’s team, the Fever, the Fever won three out of four times. Reese scored more points than Clark in two of those games and got more rebounds in all four, while Clark had more assists in each game.
